Grey House is a residential architecture project in Victoria, Australia designed by architect Adam Kane. Defined by restraint and material clarity, the home reflects a considered approach to contemporary Australian architecture, where form, proportion, and detail are resolved with intention.
Set within a quiet landscape of rolling hills, the home’s soft grey palette and measured geometry establish a calm relationship with its surroundings. Working closely with Adam Kane Architects, ZETR collaborated on the integration of architectural electrical fittings, ensuring each element sits flush within the building fabric and supports the home’s sculptural logic.
Throughout the residence, the architect specified ZETR 13 / FLUSH switches in Matte Black, introducing a subtle counterpoint to the muted material palette. Early in the design process, Kane identified the need for an integrated indicator aperture suitable for an illuminated push-button mechanism that did not yet exist. He also sought a switch button that matched the texture and presence of the plate, reinforcing the project’s minimalist intent.

Through close collaboration, this bespoke solution was developed and later informed the creation of ZETR Button Covers, now part of the core range. The outcome reflects a shared commitment to precision, where technical performance and architectural clarity are held in balance.
As Adam Kane notes, “Collaborating with ZETR to develop this addition was a straightforward and rewarding process. Regardless of scale, whether architectural or componentry, the opportunity to resolve even the smallest details with such precision has been immensely satisfying.”
Grey House demonstrates the value of intentional specification. In a project where every surface is considered and every detail resolved, flush electrical design becomes an integral part of the architecture, rather than a visual interruption.
